What I will learn?

  • In mechanics of materials, the strength of a material is its ability to withstand an applied load without failure or plastic deformation. The field of strength of materials deals with forces and deformations that result from their acting on a material. The major objectives of the subject are (i) to determine maximum stress (internal forces) and maximum deformations in the object and (ii) to know about the factors that control these maximum values. Principles of Solid Mechanics are widely applied in design and analysis of machine components and structures.
